An Open Call for Caregivers

Web of Care

About the Project

Web of Care is a participatory art installation that honors the invisible networks of care, holding our communities together.

At its heart, Web of Care asks:

What if we could recognize the community it takes to raise the next generation, and then actively build it together—connection by connection, knot by knot?

The Installation:

Together, we will crochet hundreds of squares that will be woven into a vast cobweb-like structure. The resulting tunnel- shaped installation will be an immersive environment—welcoming, protective, and resonant with the presence of countless caregivers. Visitors will be able to walk through, pause under, and feel part of a web that embodies connection, resilience, and shared responsibility; an artifact of our time spent together.

Through Web of Care, we hope to cultivate an organic culture of care—one that reflects the bonds we form through shared labor, ritual, and presence. Each square carries not only yarn, but also time, attention, and love. Woven together, they become a visible, tangible reminder that none of us are alone.

Planned to be featured in an art exhibition in early 2026, the Web of Care is both artwork and social experiment, extending its reach through word of mouth and new bonds of kinship.

Want to take part?

Wether you are a crochet artist, want to learn, or want to help, there are many ways to participate in building the Web of Care.

  • Create a piece that will become part of the installation, expressing your creative voice while following a few requirements.

  • Attend upcoming crochet gatherings to connect, share stories, and learn together. No experience required - each stitch matters.

  • Share Web of Care within your community and help us grow the network. We are looking for partners who can donate recycled materials, host workshops, or simply spread the word.
